(Updated) Come and Try… Mountain Biking!

16/02/2013 by DORC

Come and Try Mountain Biking

When: Saturday 2nd March. 4:30pm
Where: Casuarina Coastal Reserve, Lee Point (map)
Difficulty: Easy

For Parks Week, Darwin Off-Road Cyclists will host hosted a come and try mountain biking at the Casuarina Coastal Reserve.

Hit the link for a report and details.

Come and Try Mountain Biking

We’ll go for an easy ride on the trails that connect Lee Point and Casuarina Beach. The trails will be simple, the pace easy and advice on-hand should you like some.

What to Bring

  • A bike and helmet
  • Sturdy shoes
  • Comfortable clothing
  • Drink bottle with water

Update (from Paul):

The come and try day turned out to be a great arvo! We had thought that due to rain that it would turn off most people from coming out. In the end we had about 30 riders turn up of which there was about 4 or 5 first timers and 7-10 beginners and then the rest were more regular riders.
Because of the different skill levels we split into, 2 groups with Mags taking the beginners and myself taking the rest.
There was a lady from Parks and Wildlife there who took some photos at the start and should be sending them through to us at some stage as well as giving us all a bit of a rundown on the Casurina Coastal Reserve including asking anyone who uses the park to give any feedback about trails that need work or other ideas for the park.
All in all it was a fun arvo with mud and puddles and a few crashes, mainly due to the mud, with everyone coming away with a smile on their face!
