27/07/2021 by Geoff Fox

Intermediate/Advanced Cornering Masterclass

Charles Darwin National Park

Sunday 8th August 2021

8:00am to 12:30pm

Take your cornering knowledge and ability to the next level with our cornering masterclass. This course covers many aspects of cornering, such as body position, braking technique and line choice as well as teaching you how to adapt your technique to suit various conditions and terrain. We highly recommend that you have completed our Braking and Cornering Course before attending the Cornering Masterclass.

This course will be presented by a qualified PMBIA Level 2 (Professional Mountain Bike Instructors Association), AusCycling Developmental Instructor.

To attend this course you must have a strong understanding and practice of braking, shifting, cornering and descending. You are able to navigate variable terrain at a good pace. You are confident and comfortable riding single track and can easily navigate roots, rocks, logs and sand. You are capable of a front wheel and rear wheel lift and can put the two together to navigate trail features. You are fairly confident on steep climbs and descents, but you may walk sections on trails that are rated Black or Double Black. You will have a reasonable level of fitness and be able to complete four hours of riding in Charles Darwin National Park.

You will be required to have a mtb in good working order, an Australian Standards Helmet, gloves, enclosed footwear (appropriate for your choice of pedals) and eye protection. You will need to be self sufficient with the ability to rectify any mechanical issues or flat tyres etc. A minimum of two litres of water will be required along with any nutritional requirements that you may need.

Please be aware that Charles Darwin National Park is known for it’s biting insects and you will need to cover up or apply repellant as needed.

This course is open to DORC/AusCycling members only. Places are limited to six riders only.
