Introduction to Drops and Jumps
Sunday 27th September 2020
8:00am – 12:30pm
New Pine Forest, Howard Springs
This course is for riders who feel that they are ready to start taking drops and jumps and have both wheels in the air. Riders attending this course should be able, and confident, to lift their front and rear wheels up and be able to hold their front wheel up for the length of their bike at a brisk running pace. If you are not able to do this on the day you will not fully benefit from this course. It might be a better option for you to put in some additional practice time and come along to this course next year. Not only will you not get the most out of this course, but the instructors will need to spend additional time with you. Other participants, who have the required fundamental skills, may be disadvantaged as a result of this.
DORC will be conducting a half day MTB skills course for riders who would like to ride smoother, faster and with more control and confidence.
This course will be run by qualified instructors from PMBIA (Professional Mountain Bike Instructors Association) and MTBA (Mountain Biking Australia).
During this course you will learn how to:
-
Use your body position and balance to get more from your bike
-
Learn how to negotiate drops and jumps smoothly and confidently
-
Successfully transition from riding small drops and jumps to hitting bigger ramps and gaps for more air time
Your skills are learnt in a controlled environment, using such teaching aids as the MTB Hopper ramps. When you are confident using these ramps, we take your new found skills onto the trails.
Riders wishing to attend this course must be over 18 years of age and be members of DORC and MTBA.
This course will cost $50 per person with all proceeds going to DORC.
Places are limited to 8 riders.
