Statement Regarding COVID-19.
This morning, we have received updated advice from MTBA regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19) and Mountain Bike activities.
Please take time to read the full details of the advice. For Darwin Off-Road Cyclists, the key point in the advice is:
MTBA strongly recommends all clubs and event hosts that are not impacted by government restrictions to reconsider if any upcoming events up to 31 May 2020 can be postponed and rescheduled to minimise potential exposure and pressure on the health system.
We have a duty of care towards our members and as such are heeding the advice of the MTBA and are cancelling all courses and social rides for the foreseeable future. In addition, all races up to 31 May 2020 are postponed until further notice. This includes:
- Blue Cycles Pine Forest Patrol (19 April)
- Lee Point Pairs Race (16 May)
Also note that Easter in the Alice has been cancelled
We are taking this approach, which includes restricting opportunities for mass gatherings, to help reduce the transmission of COVID-19 and do our part to “flatten the curve”. As can be appreciated, the situation surrounding COVID-19 is changing rapidly and on a daily basis. We will work with MTBA to continue monitoring developments and government recommendations and update members as required.
Darwin Off-Road Cyclists and MTBA encourage individuals to keep regularly and safely riding their bike for their mental and physical wellbeing and enjoyment, throughout this challenging time.
Thanks
Committee, Darwin Off-Road Cyclists

I guess now its time to ensure your mates are safe and not under too much strain and hardship. Use the phone, go online and say hi to people….
This is the last paragraph of the MTBA statement: “MTBA encourage individuals to keep regularly and safely riding their bike for their mental and physical wellbeing and enjoyment, throughout this challenging time”
Use good hygienic standards and keep your distance..
